“Starting and maintaining a good pace makes things more easier than they would if you’d start with a fraustrating mind.” – Yevugenius
Just as machines have to be greeced and booted after a long while of being at rest in order to function effectively and efficiently, so do our minds need to be rebooted after several weeks of vacation without books and memorization (babadiyeh) in order to be able to cope with the courses to be taken for the semester.
We all need to have a great start and maintain it as well knowing the semester is filled of extra curriculum activities. Even though the end of a thing is better than the beginning, starting really well is necessary in the sense that, it takes you off from the position of frustration and gives you reason to maintain a good pace. People who have a faustrating start in the semester are likely to end more fraustrated if drastic measures are not taken, and may affect them in the long run.
So how could you possibly start and maintain a good pace this semester?
• Remind yourself how demanding the the university’s system is. When you’re reminded, you’re triggered to put the necessary things in order to match your goals and the university’s as well.
• Do well to get the course outline for all the courses you’re taking and find soft copies of the books listed by the lecturer. If possible, go and find the hard copies from the library. They can help you with what the slides cannot not possibly help with.
• Stay around like-minded people. Be friends with people who will push you to see the reality of UCC.
• Attend lectures and read ahead of the class.
• Study at least two hours daily. Don’t wait till things are piled up in the latter days. You will regret ever doing that in UCC if you try.
Not to bore you with so many talks, these are just a few ways to start and maintain a good pace for the semester. If you can do this, you’ll be fine.
Be once again reminded: This semester will be full of many activities, ranging from campus league to hall week. If you are not skeptical about your decisions, before you know it, we’re close to exam. So stay focused this semester in order to hit your desired goal.
Thanks for reading. I hope it helps greatly.
